The Digestive System starts at the mouth and ends at the anus. According to Traditional Chinese Medecine, the Digestive System comprises the following main organs: Stomach, Spleen and Pancreas, which are associated with the element Earth from The Five Elements Theory.
This set of movements has beneficial effects on the entire Digestive System, acting mainly on Stomach and Spleen.
In addition, it also has beneficial effects on the Stomach and Spleen’s “mother-organ”, which is the Heart, and also on the Stomach and Spleen’s “child-organ”, which are the Lungs. (according to The Five Elements Theory, the Fire-Heart nourishes the Earth-Spleen, and the Earth nourishes the Metal-Lungs).
The characteristics and the most important aspects of this set are:
1. Focusing the attention on DanTian.
2. Coordinating breath with movement. Movements must be slow and breath - extended.
3. Swallowing saliva in a correct manner.
4. Actively exercising the fingers.
5. Contracting and relaxing the perineum, correlated with the breath.
6. Massaging the abdomen.
